PDF Love is a set of 36 document tools that do their work inside your browser. There is no upload step, no account, and no watermark on what you get back.
Why local processing
The usual way to build a PDF converter is to take the file, send it to a server, run a command-line tool on it, and hand back the result. It works — but it means a copy of your contract, your medical scan, or your tax return sits on somebody else’s hardware, however briefly. You have to trust a retention policy you cannot inspect.
Browsers no longer need that arrangement. WebAssembly runs compiled PDF and image libraries at close to native speed, right on the page. So PDF Love ships the engine to you rather than shipping your document to us. Nothing is transmitted, which means there is nothing to retain, leak, or subpoena.
The side effects are pleasant. Large files start converting immediately instead of crawling up your connection first. There is no queue at peak times. And once the page has loaded, the tools keep working with the network switched off entirely.
Where the limits are
Being honest about this matters more than marketing does. Because the work happens on your device, the ceiling is your device’s memory rather than our server’s: a few hundred megabytes is comfortable on a modern laptop, and an older phone will run out sooner. Office conversions reproduce your content, structure, tables, and images faithfully, but not every bespoke theme or exotic layout — for pixel-perfect fidelity, exporting from the original application is still the better route.
Each tool’s page says plainly what it does and does not preserve. If a conversion has a trade-off, you will find it written there rather than discovered after the download.
How it stays free
Advertising, eventually. Because there are no conversion servers to pay for, running PDF Love costs a fraction of what a traditional converter costs — which is why the tools can stay unlimited and free rather than metered behind a subscription.
