PDF exists for one reason: a Word file does not look the same on two machines. Fonts substitute, margins reflow, and a layout that was right where it was written arrives somewhere else subtly wrong. Converting to PDF fixes the page — whoever opens it sees what you saw, in whatever they open it with.
These converters take the formats people actually send and write a PDF from them inside the browser tab. There is no upload step, which matters more here than in most places: the things worth converting to PDF are contracts, invoices, payslips and coursework, and none of those need a copy sitting on someone else's server to become a PDF.

Will the PDF look exactly like the original?
Close, and for most documents indistinguishable. The gap is fonts: if a document uses a typeface your browser cannot load, the converter substitutes the nearest match and line breaks can shift by a word. Documents built on common faces convert exactly; heavily designed ones are worth a glance before you send them.
Is there a file size limit?
None that we impose. The ceiling is your own device's memory, because the work happens there rather than on a server with a quota — a laptop handles a few hundred pages comfortably and a phone rather less. Nothing counts against a daily allowance, because there is no allowance.
Can I convert several files at once?
Most of these take a batch and give back one PDF per input. Images are the exception, and the useful one: JPG to PDF collects everything you drop into a single document in the order you arrange them, which is usually what you wanted from a folder of scans.
